2011 Four Vines White Classic White (12 x 750ml), Great Southern by Silverstream Estate, 12 5 Alc/Vol, Tasting Notes: Sauvignon Blanc (45%), Semillon (25%), Chardonnay (25%) and Riesling (5%). The nose displays intense and lifted tropical fruits – rockmelon, fresh pineapple and ripe citrus. There is a hint of development with ‘toast n honey’ peeping through. A ripe and fruit driven style with flavours of stonefruit and pineapple. This wine is in the same ilk as the famous Houghton’s White Burgundy which aged for well over 10-15 years. Enjoy over the sunny Autumn and Winter with a fruit and cheese board or Asian salad. James Halliday wrote in the 2012 Wine Companion …. “A blend of chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, semillon and riesling. While the aromas and primary flavours are still to fully express themselves, there is enough overall flavour and mouthfeel to suggest cellaring may be rewarding.”
