Iron Matrix Building Structure Information

The Iron Matrix Building Structure was purchased in kit form in 2021, at a cost of $30,000.


The dimensions of the building structure is approx L8030 x W3900 x H2900mm, and consists of:

- Galvanised Steel, 100 x 100 x 3mm RHS Bolt Together Modular Frame
- Approx 20 x 360W Solar Panels (approx 1956 x 992 x 40mm) to form the external walls of the building (not installed) and framework (approx 37 x Assorted Sizes)
- 1 x Double Glazed Glass Sliding Door (approx 900 x 2090mm) and Frame (approx 1960 x 3000mm)
- 5 x Double Glazed Fixed Windows in Galvanised Frame (approx 1960 x 990mm)
- Approx 21 x Composite Tongue and Groove Flooring (approx 1700 x 1020 x 35mm) and quantity of offcuts
- Approx 40 x Timber Floor Joists with Brackets (approx 1800 x 200 x 50mm)
- Approx 32 x Treated Pine Sleepers (approx 1800 x 200 x 50mm)
- Quantity of Assorted Conduit, Fittings and Fixings
- 13 x Assorted 2100 x 100mm Cool Room Panels (Lengths incl. 10 at 2710mm, 1 at 2620mm, 2 at 3450mm)
- Small Quantity of Floor/Wall Tiles


The intended purpose of the structure was to be used as a Granny Flat. Shire approval was granted in 2021, however, due to a change in circumstances, the construction of the building will not proceed.

The modular structure can be changed to suit your needs and can be used for many applications including Accommodation, Carport, Garage, and Storage.

The steel structure is currently erected onsite and will need to be removed by the purchaser. The structure is bolted together, except for an additiona steel brace section that has been welded to one side of the top beams (required for planning approval). The structure can be easily removed by 2 people in one day. The footings consist of a steel base plate bolted to in-ground footings.

Note that 5 x posts of the building are missing.

The solar panels are designed to be secured to the outside of the structure via framework to form the external walls. These could easily be replaced by Colorbond sheeting or similar.

The cool room panels were purchased separately with the possible intention of using them for either the internal walls or roofing.

A small quantity of tiles are also included as part of the building structure.
