Winners not able to collect on Sunday the 7th of June 2026 can arrange Lots to be delivered via postage through the Perth Thunder online store. PLEASE NOTE: Postage is NOT included in the hammer prices, and payment for postage (within Australia) will be $12.00. PLEASE NOTE: Any invoice changes required after the closure of the auction will incur a $150/per invoice fee.

Perth Thunder Game-Worn "Country Themed" Jerseys Online Charity Auction

This special charity auction is being held on behalf of the Perth Thunder Ice Hockey team to honor a long-term volunteer within the club, Colleen Tomlin, who unfortunately passed from Pancreatic Cancer last year.

Colleen was considered as the backbone of volunteers for the Perth Thunder Ice Hockey team who was involved right from the start and ran the volunteers & game day organisation for the team. Colleen had tremendous love for the team and the players, as well as a love for country music, hence the 'Country Theme' for the jerseys in memory of Colleen.

Following the team's game on Saturday the 6th of June 2026, these one-of-a-kind jerseys will be auctioned off (with bidding starting Thursday th 4th of June 2026 from 6:00pm), with proceeds going toward pancreatic cancer support & awareness in Colleen's name.

About Pancreatic Cancer

The pancreas produces enzymes that help you digest & absorb food, and produces hormones (including insulin & glucagon) which help control your blood sugar levels. Any changes to the pancrease can result in problems with digestion &/or blood sugar control.

Pancreatic cancer occurs when abnormal cells in the pancreas grow out of control forming a tumour. These tumours can grow in any part of the pancreas.

The cause of pancreatic cancer is currently unknown, but certain risks are potential factors for its development including:

- Being over 65 years old

- Being male

- Smoking tobacco

- Frequent alcohol use

- Being overweight or obese

- Having diabetes (especially type 2, or new diabetes in older adults)

- Long-term inflammation of the pancreas (known as chronic pancreatitis)

- Family history or inherited genetic conditions

- Other possible risks include eating lots of processed or ed meat, some chemical exposures at work, and liver disease

There is currently no guaranteed way to prevent pancreatic cancer, but risk can be lowered by:

- Quitting smoking

- Limiting alcohol

- Eating a healthy, balanced diet

- Staying active & keeping a healthy weight

- Managing diabetes with your doctor's help

There is no population wide screening program in Australia for pancreatic cancer.
